Giada Peterle
University of Padua
Giada Peterle is a cultural geographer, currently working as a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer in literary geography at the University of Padua. Her research interests lie in the interdisciplinary fields of geohumanities and literary and comic book geographies and revolve around the narrative representations of cities in literature and graphic novels, the engagement with creative writing and drawing as research practices and the exchange between geography and art in contemporary urban contexts. Her main publications in relation to creative cartographies are Story of a Mapping Process. The Origin, Design and Afterlives of the ‘Street Geography’ Map (J-Reading, forthcoming 2019), Carto-fiction: Narrativising Maps through Creative Writing (Social & Cultural Geography, 2018), and Comic Book Cartographies: A Carto-centred Reading of ‘City of Glass’, the Graphic Novel (Cultural Geographies, 2017).
As a comics author herself, Giada has recently coedited with Adriano Cancellieri the comic book anthology Quartieri. Viaggio al centro delle periferie italiane[Neighbourhoods. Travel at the Centre of Italian Peripheries] (BeccoGiallo, 2019), to which she has contributed a graphical chapter devoted to the multicultural neighbourhood of Arcella in Padua, Italy.
