Jonathan Gardner is a PhD candidate studying the archaeological traces of mega events since 1851, with a focus on London. He was previously a commercial field archaeologist for the Museum of London Archaeology, excavating urban construction sites on large projects like Thameslink and the 2012 Olympics. His research interests are in how ideas of the past are used to legitimise change in societies.
